Dear friends,
The revision of Covenant of War (book 2) is now complete. I turned it in today to Kavod Press.
Like Day of War, this new edition has been expanded with extended sequences and deeper characterizations. I believe it is a stronger book than before, and it now fits more fully into the arc I had always envisioned for the series. We are planning to release it later this summer.
Meanwhile, we have been steadily mailing out signed copies of Day of War to the annual and Mighty Men subscribers who have been patiently waiting. Many of you have already written in to say your copies have arrived. If you are still waiting on one, it is coming soon.
Also, (and this is really exciting news), the audiobook for the new Day of War was completed this week. It is narrated by Stefan Rudnicki, who also voiced the original version and has remained a fan favorite. His deep and seasoned delivery brings the story to life in a powerful way. As soon as that link is live, I’ll send it out.
I also completed narration on The Boundary of Blood this past week. That one will be releasing soon as well.
Why This Series Is Fighting an Uphill Battle
It is no secret that most men do not read fiction. That is especially true when it comes to fiction aimed at Christian men. There are many reasons for this, some of them understandable, some of them frustrating. But the result is the same. Stories that could stir a man’s heart or give him a vision of brotherhood, honor, or faithfulness often go unread.
This is part of why we are putting so much emphasis on producing audiobook versions of the series. Men are far more likely to listen while they work, while they drive, or while they train in the gym. It is a format that works with the rhythm of a man’s life. Still, even with that, we know we are facing an uphill battle to get these stories into the hands and hearts of the men they were written for.
I have tried to be restrained in how often I send promotional emails. No one likes to be pestered, and, candidly, I don’t like doing promotional work because I know it can be obnoxious. You are already hit up for many things.
But if every person reading this update were to order a copy or two of the new Day of War this week to give to someone else, such as their men’s ministry director or Bible study small group leader, it would make a tremendous difference in helping us break through the noise and reach the readers we are aiming for.
To those who have not yet picked up the new edition of Day of War: So much has been added to this version—new scenes, revised structure, more complete arcs—that it will be difficult to follow the events of Covenant of War and the concluding volumes if you are working from the older Zondervan-published version (the one with the cover images of the warriors). These books are being written to form a single, cohesive body of work. If you are with us for the journey, I would encourage you to start fresh with this new edition.
Another way to help out is to download it at no additional cost as part of your rotating library, if you are a member on Kindle Unlimited.
All of these help the Amazon sales algorithm in a big way. Here is the link once again.
Also very important to increasing our visibility is customer reviews. If you had a five star experience with the book, would you leave a quick review?
More to come soon. Incredibly grateful for all of you.
Praise and Arrows,
CG
